Tucked away in a village just north of Bristol, this 19th century coach house has been transformed into a stunning contemporary home. Oak chevron flooring was the perfect choice, combining traditional elegance with a modern edge. The extra large individual staves complement the proportions of the rooms and the geometric chevron pattern provides a stylish setting for the owners' eclectic collection of modern furniture and objet d'art. A custom light-coloured finish was chosen for the oak flooring to enhance the brightness of the interiors created by the addition of new french doors and full ceiling height windows in the central hallway.
The 19.5mm thick oak chevron flooring for this project is produced by our partner Trap, with a custom 'Original Oak' finish hand applied in the factory. This finish retains the natural light colour of freshly machined, unsealed oak, with a top coat of UV oil for easy maintenance. The individual blocks are bevelled and tongue and grooved on all four sides, making installation quicker and easier than traditional chevron parquet blocks. Matching long boards in the same width and finish were used to create a border strip.
Parquet flooring from Trap is also available with 90 degree end joints for herringbone installation and as Versailles squares, and in a choice of 11mm, 14.8mm or 19.5mm thickness. As well as oak and American walnut, Trap parquet floors are available in a range of exotic tropical hardwoods such as wenge and sucupira. The same flooring and finishes can also be supplied as long wide boards up to 230mm wide.
